SOLDIER ADOPTED

Brandon Nielsen came and read a story to our class.

He talked to us about his work and training in the army.

Brandon has jumped out of airplanes.

He will be deployed to Afghanistan in February.

Our class made Christmas cards for him. We have "adopted" him and will continue to stay in contact with him through letters and care packages.

Animal Signs

Katie, the BV County Naturalist, did a program on animal signs. The students partnered up and tried matching furs to footprints.

Here is a coyote.

These two found their matches.

The kids are checking with Katie to see if they are right.

Look at that long footprint!

Katie tells us to look at the toes.

Oh, my! A skunk!

Eye Dissection is a Success!

Mrs. Tiefenthaler demonstrates how the pupil changes size when there is more light.

Jaron and Jared check out their pupils, too.

This group is just getting started on the dissection. They are quite the scientists in their full gear!

Fire Prevention Week

The Fonda Fire Department came to our classroom. They showed us the gear that firefighters wear to a fire and gave us fire safety tips. We LOVED the ride on the firetruck!

Buena Vista Pork Queen

Katie Sievers, the BV County Pork Queen, visited our class and taught us about pork production. She had a squealing piglet with her.
